Canfield Solitaire

Canfield Solitaire is a solitaire card game first introduced by Richard Canfield for use in his Saratoga Springs New York casino in the 1890s. Canfield Solitaire is a difficult game to win, which worked will for Canfield's Casino. Mr. Canfield would sell a deck to a player for $50 and pay the player $5 for every card he put into the foundations. In the end, players averaged about 6 cards in the foundations, so Mr. Canfield would pocket the remaining $20.
