Golf Solitaire

Golf Solitaire deals 35 cards face up into 7 columns of 5 cards. These cards can be moved to the foundation if the card showing face up in the foundation is one greater than or one lower than the card being moved. The only cards can be moved are the cards that are lowest vertically in the column.

How to play Golf Solitaire

Game Basics

Golf is one of the simplest of solitaire games to play. It begins with 7 columns that have 5 cards each in them. All cards in the columns are turned face up. The remaining cards are left in a stack face down as a draw or reserve pile.

Game Play

The foundation pile has no cards in it at the outset; the player clicks on the reserve pile once and a single card is loaded into the foundation. It doesn't matter what suit or rank the foundation begins with because the cards are played into the stack going up or down in rank regardless of suit.

The game is played based on the face value of the cards and nothing else. Before deciding on a card to play, it is best to study the cards that are face up on the 7 stacks. The strategy should be to play as many cards as possible on the foundation before having another card turned over from the draw pile.

The only cards that can be played are the ones on the bottom of each column. Selecting 1 of those cards to play on the foundation should be based on the next cards that will be available afterwards. Cards go into the foundation based on being either one up or one down in rank. There is no consideration for suit. An Ace can be played on a 2 or a King.

The game ends when a player either clears the columns of all cards into the foundation area (WIN) or has no further moves to make (LOSS).
